2023 Message from the Board of Directors

After examining our current membership model, the Good Friends Board of Directors unanimously voted to discontinue the membership dues model and replace it with a per-person charge to attend the Gather & Give Fundraiser luncheon.

During this transition year (2023), current members will not be charged to attend the luncheon. Additionally, all Life Members will be grandfathered and will not have to pay a luncheon fee for the lifetime of their membership.

We believe this solution aligns most with our beloved organization’s priorities of increasing impact, heightening awareness, expanding giving, and maintaining our stellar reputation of excellent stewardship.

Why is Good Friends making this change?

Good Friends takes pride that 100% of all money raised at the fundraiser goes back into our community. It has been central to Good Friends since its founding. As costs to put on a fundraiser event continue to rise, we are returning to a luncheon charge to cover the costs. We are moving away from a membership dues model and replacing it with a per person charge to attend the luncheon. This allows us to stay true to our mission that all money raised at the fundraiser goes back to our community.

I’m a 2023 Good Friends Annual member. What does that mean for this year?

Thank you for your support of Good Friends! Since you are a current member, there is no charge for you to attend the 2023 luncheon. You will also have early access to reserve your seat/s. You may reserve up to 24 seats (3 tables of 8 guests each), including yourself.

I am a current member. What happens after 2023?

You will need to pay to attend the luncheon going forward and you can still support our Mission and be a Good Friend with your donation at the luncheon, or with your donation to our Community Fund if you are unable to attend in person.

How do I know if I am a 2023 Annual Member?

You may check to see if you are a 2023 Annual Member or a Life Member HERE.

I am a Life Member. What does this change mean for me?

Thank you for your immense support of Good Friends by joining as a Life Member! Your status as a Life Member is not changing. Since you committed to membership prior to this change, your attendance at the fundraiser will continue to be at no charge. As a Life Member, you will not be charged for any future luncheon.

May I still invite guests to the luncheon?

Absolutely and please do! We hope you will serve as a Hostess. Any guest that is a 2023 Good Friend member may attend at no charge this year. All others will be charged $75 to attend.

Can I still be a Good Friend even if I cannot attend the luncheon?

Yes, you are a Good Friend by donating to Good Friends Charlotte anytime during the year.
